Dayton is a great place to live because it is the C+ grade of cities. The night life leaves a lot to be desired but that’s a fixable problem. For engineers there is a crazy amount of job opportunities and they pay well.
The city of Dayton is pretty run down on my opinion. And if you’re coming from Nashville, I don’t think you’re going to enjoy Dayton. Dayton itself is pretty low cost of living, but you have neighboring towns like Springboro and Kettering which are rich areas.
Dayton is smaller city so it's like 20 mins to most places. I've lived primarily more North of Dayton, last year I lived in Centerville, now Fairborn. Rent will be cheaper more North you go, but not much to do.
