      • Atlantis” is by far one of the bleakest films to come along in quite some time. Over the course of its 106 minutes, it touches on such subjects as PTSD, climate change, suicide, the dark side of capitalism, and the lingering traumas of war, without sugarcoating any of them.

  2. Apr 18, 2023 · The city buried in water has made its way into plenty of movies throughout history, including some very recognizable properties. However, some of these films are better than others at taking the viewer on a magnificent underwater journey to the lost city.

    • Pillars of the Genre. For Disney Animation's first foray into science-fiction, they certainly had key elements of the genre done exceptionally well. The Ulysses submarine gives off some heavy 20,000 Leagues vibes, the skills of the crew could match those of the Enterprise, and do we even have to mention the ferocity of the Leviathan?
    • Call Out the Crew. Milo Thatch, though ambitious and eager, couldn't tackle this job alone. The film is absolutely packed with memorable characters that any viewers can easily invest in and identify with.
    • Lore of the Lost. In the first 10-12 minutes of the film, the viewer has a basic idea of the Atlantean culture and the plight of the lost city. The story of Atlantis is presented to us in an epic yet tangible way.

  6. Jun 6, 2018 · 1. Atlantis, the Lost Continent (1961) – Atlantis Movies. In my mind, Atlantis, the Lost Continent is the best Atlantis movie and my top recommendation. The film effectively combines the Atlantis myth with an Ancient Greece storyline. You have to watch it if you haven’t seen it before.

  7. Entertaining but intense adventure for tweens and up. Read Common Sense Media's Atlantis: The Lost Empire review, age rating, and parents guide.
