On October 13th 1915 Acting Lance Sergeant Herbert Purdom served with B Company of the 5 th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, the date of the offensive on the Hohenzollern Redoubt. He was wounded in action and died on 15 th October 1915 at the 6 th Casualty Clearing Station in France, Herbert was 22years old.
