David William Parker (born 1960) is a New Zealand lawyer, businessman and politician who has been a Labour Party Member of Parliament since 2002. After a career in law and business, Parker entered Parliament by winning the marginal Otago electorate.
David was appointed to Cabinet in 2005, and has served in a wide range of portfolios under Prime Minister Helen Clark, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and in Opposition. His focus has always been, and remains, on delivering prosperity and fairer economic outcomes for all New Zealanders.
David has been a minister in the last two Labour-led Governments. As Climate Change Minister in 2008, he pioneered New Zealand’s emissions trading scheme, then described by many as the most significant environmental reform in this country for decades.
