Shoot-Out was the name of the eighth Clarkson home video release, as part of a series which would be released yearly through to 2011. It was filmed around the same time that Series 3 of the relaunched Top Gear was being filmed, and came out a day after the third episode aired.
This video deviated somewhat from the established trend of Clarkson driving the latest supercars and destroying a car that he hated, as the closest the video comes to the latter is Jeremy deliberately driving a Range Rover in such a reckless manner that the caravan it is towing eventually tips over and collapses, strewing debris all over the airfield.
In this release, Jeremy sets out to find "the most fun car of 2003", after proclaiming that the year was one of the best for new cars in the history of the motor car. As production of the Top Gear relaunch was in full swing by this point in time, it, along with its immediate predecessor did reuse a lot of footage from the show in order to lower production costs.
•This is the last Clarkson home video to be released on VHS; every successive title from Hot Metal onwards were exclusively released on DVD.
•This is the first Clarkson home video to have been filmed at Dunsfold, the same airfield as Top Gear, rather than Kemble.
