Jul 22, 2024 · I saw Alan Ball’s last game for Pool, it was a pre season friendly against Preston in August 1966, the following week Ball was down to play for Pool against Preston in a pre season friendly at Bloomfield Road but withdrew a couple of hours before kick off as he had verbally agreed to join Everton. Ball was at the game and sat on the bench.

Jul 11, 2023 · Alan Ball was my boyhood hero, to see him the MotM (despite Geoff Hurst's hat-trick) in the World Cup Final was bloody Tangerine amazing! I cried when we sold him to Everton, but soon after saw his debut for them at Craven Cottage when they won 1-0 - Bally scored their winning goal in the 67th minute!

I remember his debut. He was hotly tipped but it didn't work out. He had a successful career in coaching, notably at Chelsea, but sadly took his own life in his fifties.

Aug 26, 2024 · My dad started taking me in the 60's but I became a supporter in my own right through the 70's. It was all about the players back then. Remember Potts chasing 0-0's & only really appreciating Allan Brown once he'd departed. I've gone back through all our managers since & can say only Alan Ball's appointment actually got me excited.
Mar 26, 2024 · Alan Ball was a great player and we were blessed to have him wear tangerine. We have had some amazing players over the decades, but the feeling I and thousands of others had when TG had the ball at his feet was indescribable and unique.
