Dec 18, 2005. #3. well the verb adore is mostly used to tell to a friend that he's a good friend . in french you hardly ever use " adore" to tell to your boy/girlfriend that you love her/him. i love you means je t'aime. i love you so much means je t'aime beaucoup. i love you to death means je t'aime a la folie.

"J'ai adoré cette vidéo" describes your reaction to viewing the video as a completed action. The same could be said of other verbs of preference: aimer, préférer, plaire, etc.

In my opinion, supported by some literate users, the verb and noun, with proper phrasing (different from the first post), permit ancillary qualifiers associated with degree.

In an essay that was supposed to be formal, I would give that student the benefit of the doubt and not penalise her for saying "I adore playing football". All the more so that she is, after all, a woman. And "adore" can be seen as a more formal word than "love" and "like", I think.

"Te quiero" is equivalent to "I love you", with its own set of nuances. "Te amo" is a deep love. It is not a phrase that is commonly used.

"worship what you have desired, desire what you have worshipped". In this context, I mean the religious one, "worship" might be better than "adore".
