May 21, 2002 · Gordon Wharmby, who played Wesley Pegden in the BBC comedy, died in 2002 at the age of 68. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer and was due to start filming a new series of Last of the Summer Wine.
Wesley Pegden is a Sloan Research Fellow and a faculty member of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on probabilistic combinatorics, combinatorial game theory, graph theory, and discrete geometry, especially the Abelian sandpile process.
