John trained over 500 winners during his time in California before returning to England in 1989 to train for Sheikh Mohammed from Stanley House Stables, Newmarket. In 2000 John moved to Manton, Marlborough, where he enjoyed further success before returning to Newmarket and Clarehaven Stables in 2006, which has been his base ever since.
