Jul 12, 2020 · It was taken over by the Granada Theatres Ltd. chain on 24th November 1946 and was re-named Granada on 15th June 1947. The Granada was closed on 7th October 1972. It was converted into a Granada Bingo Club, and was taken over by Gala Bingo from May 1991. In January 2019 it was announced the Gala Bingo Club would close in February 2019.

The applicants described the Gala/Kingsway as "an important feature in the urban landscape of Kings Heath High Street."
Sep 22, 2008 · 28DL Member. Jul 5, 2015. #2. This is the Gala / Ritz Bingo hall in Nuneaton. It was a theatre and cinema before being converted to a bingo hall in the mid eighties. The interior is Grade II listed. It closed in 2007 and has been left to slowly deteriorate ever since. I worked there between 1994-98.

Oct 2, 2014 · In 1997 Bass sold their bingo chain in a management buy-in and the club continued as Gala until owner Gala Coral Group Ltd announced their intention to close down the venue following a reorganisation of the company that also saw other bingo clubs closed throughout the United Kingdom. The final bingo session was held on Monday 27th July, 2009.

The Granada was eventually closed as a cinema, and in 1974 it became a Gala Bingo Club for many years.

The cinema opened on 7 September 1931, as one of the Granada chain, and screened movies sometimes with stage shows or organ recitals until it closed as a cinema on 10 November 1973. The seating capacity was over 3000, and was often completely sold-out.
