I hold a current and savings account with HSBC and recently opened a new account, having been a customer years ago, with First Direct. I’m really shocked and disappointed at how poor relation FD appears to be compared with their parent HSBC.

May 23, 2016 · I have my main personal account with First Direct and their regular saver at 6%. I switched from Santander 123 and the switch process was good and efficient and unlike other banks I mainly spoke to people rather than the annoying system of many other banks of having to go through half a dozen phone menus before getting to speak to an advisor.

Opened the account mid-June and immediately transferred the required £1000 within a couple of days. The account switch was completed about a week later. It has now been a month since the switch completed but no bonus as yet.

Oct 12, 2022 · Think twice before switching to First Direct. I have been with First Direct since 1992 but an incident today has made me reconsider. I set up a new payment to pay some money into a new savings account with the Nationwide. As always - I setup the bill payment and made a small £100 transfer to check that the money arrived safely.
