It was originally registered in May 2018 and DVLA say it attracts the tax until end of April 2024. When I tax it this month, August, I know I'll have to pay the £140 hybrid tax plus £325 luxury tax.

Jan 4, 2016 · The quote from the DVLA says the code isn't valid until the 5th of the month my current tax expires in. As my tax expires at the start of Jan, the code isn't valid til 5 days later. Force ten: The problem is in my situation the tax runs out on the beginning of January, and the V11 code won't be valid until the 5th of January.

I was thinking it was November that I had to pay but must have got out of sync by paying 6 months. Anyway, I am now worried about the consequences of this oversight.

My OH gets standard PIP mobility which entitles him to a 50% reduction in the cost of car tax. This is now due to be applied for as his tax runs out at the end of the month. I have just checked the DVLA website and it says not to send in any paperwork.
Aug 13, 2022 · If you became the registered keeper (and got a new V5C in your name) your husband should have automatically received a refund of any unexpired tax, and the DVLA.should have stopped taking payments. It would also have been a good idea for your husband to cancel the direct debit. You need to speak (or write) to the DVLA.
