Dec 15, 2011 · The equipment required, along with overheads such as manpower etc along with a high rejection rate due to necessary high tolerances mean that some lenses, especially high prescription surfaced and coated to order lenses will invariably cost a lot more than standard lenses mass moulded in some far eastern sweathouse.

One member suggested Daysoft who sell a months worth of daily disposables for £10 whereas other places do them for £20-£30!

My glasses (before discounts - I work in optics) were £149 for zeiss 1.7 glass lenses, my RGP contacts were £90 and my soft lenses are £40 for a 6 month supply. Compared to that I say glasses are bloody cheap considering the sheer a,punt of work it takes to get them right.

  7. Aug 13, 2010 · I think I will go to daysoft eventually but I need hand holding for the first bit. I went to VE and got my eyes checked out and got my first set of 30 days contacts for £42. Once I have them and the prescription I will look online for some cheaper lenses.

  8. I have used daysoft lenses for a number of years and consider them the best for value. Optically i think they are almost as good as Acuvue by J & J.

  10. May 20, 2022 · Daysoft are poor lenses and would not recommend them for anything more than a few hours of very occasional wear. All opticians including Specsavers if that's where you've been sell contact lenses 'as and when you need them'. You can simply say you're only interested in x number of boxes.
