Yes you lose a bit of light, but you gain in summer as we are south west facing, it was a lot cooler. In winter it holds the warmth. We have not looked back.

  7. Dec 25, 2020 · Cannot describe the difference it has made. Cheapest qoute was £2600 ( small 12m2) researched You Tube and did an excellent job (imo) myself for £220. I am looking at replacing the roof on our 23 year old Victorian Conservatory. The size is 3.5m x 2.5m. I have no idea about costing or best replacement idea.

  8. Oct 23, 2021 · We don't have an extreme climate in the West Country, but when we had harsh weather a few years ago and -6c outside, I worked in our glass roofed conservatory all day at around 19c with only the 5Kw wood burner in the adjoining room heating it.

  9. Aug 29, 2020 · Solid conservatory roof opinions / experiences. We are looking at getting our south facing conservatory roof replaced with an insulated and tiled roof. The conservatory is approx 6m across x 3m projection, so very large. It is unbearably hot in summer and we expect it will be cold in winter (only just bought the house so not experienced this yet).

Extending the main central heating to add a radiator in the conservatory opens the same can of worms. If/when you come to sell the property, if the door has been removed, there is a very good chance the surveyor would down value his/her valuation and solicitors could ask some rather awkward questions.
