Dec 19, 2014 · The new “Annie” is getting kicked up and down Critic’s Row like an unwanted orphan, but if you see it with a big audience you’ll experience an emotion entirely different from the one being described in many reviews: unabashed cheer.
Modern-day adaptation of the 1977 Broadway musical (of the same name), which was based on the 1924 comic strip 'Little Orphan Annie'. It stars Quvenzhane Wallis (of 'BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD' fame), as Annie, and Jamie Foxx, as billionaire Will Stacks (an update on the Daddy Warbucks character, from the comic and musical).

This movie might just have the greatest live action soundtrack of the past 10 years, rivaling the likes of both guardians of the Galaxy films, the singing and dancing are all absolutely spectacular, the final dance is truly brilliant and the modern takes of classic songs were all absolutely terrific.
