  1. Aug 3, 2024 · EWR-CPT is 6793 nautical miles while EWR-JNB is 6942 nautical miles. DFW-CPT would be 7637 nautical miles while MIA-CPT would be 6663 nautical miles. The closest currently unserved route between the US and South Africa, and possibly the closest overall, is MIA-CPT. If AA is going to launch anything, that'll be it.

  2. Jun 8, 2019 · chepos, that would be smart as AA started the 77W on LAX-HND today. Also AA has to decide whether to route SE Asia (through JL) connections still via NRT or SE Asia/South Asia connections (including India) via HKG instead onto CX and drop LAX-NRT possibly.

  3. Jul 15, 2016 · AA had planned to operate a B763 during June-September ether this year or last summer (need to check) but it was pulled close to when it was starting. Appears to me the AA route is one of convenience which can make some money in summer with the 752, DUB's location and catering for peak season demand as it doesn't even run daily until mid season.

  4. Sep 3, 2006 · March 2, 1999, saw the introduction of two new fleet types in the AA fleet -- the 737-800 and the 777 -- on the same day. Both of the first 737 routes for American were to LAX: flight 485 from Chicago, and flight 77 (later of 9/11 infamy) from Washington Dulles. Again, indicative of the growing importance and profile of Los Angeles, California ...

  5. Sep 4, 2006 · I flew the service several times, along with AA's SNA-JFK flights. I always assumed the AA route simply was passed on from TW. I was actualy sad AA dropped out completely from a peak of 3 dailies, as it was an extremely convienent alternative for folks south of LA.

  6. Mar 2, 2024 · Re: Rumor: AA to open crew base in SEA #24183275. BY BB78710 - Sun Mar 03, 2024 12:03 am. You all are really reading way too much into opening crew bases. From what I've heard from flight attendants this coming April Delta is re-opening their crew base at DFW, TPA, RDU, and they are opening 2 new bases at PHX and LAS.

  7. Aug 10, 2024 · Yoan0185 wrote: Id say Morroco and Cape town or JNB. DFW to CPT is 7637nm and 7952nm to JNB. my 2 cents. South Africa is definitely way too far from DFW, if it's started it'll be from MIA. Keep in mind DFW-CPT literally overflies MIA. Morocco is more likely from MIA as well but DFW is not out of the question.

  8. Jan 31, 2024 · American airlines announcement 2/1 #24142395. BY Midwestindy - Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:33 pm. Looks to be an AA route announcement tomorrow. Of note this is would be a fairly late announcement for Summer, but would imagine these would be Summer 2024 launches. My bet is on ORD-HNL, but unsure what the Australia route could be.

  9. Jan 20, 2017 · AA also served Australia briefly in the early 1980's for a period of approximately 15-18 months due to the failure following Northwest's withdrawal over the Australia/Japan/USA route fiasco. AA's withdrawal during this time period (1983-4) was prior to Continental serving Australia. I'm confused as to when this 4th time occurred.

  10. Dec 31, 2023 · Re: American Airlines Network - 2024 #24089879. -The return of some of the PHL TATL routes suspended during COVID when the A321XLRs enter the fleet (EDI, SNN come to mind). -AA launch JFK-HND should they get the slot for it. -Where AA deploys the new premium B789s (probably LHR and domestic at first).
