They tend to be more expensive than many of the other less well-known firms, so it always pays to shop around. Just make sure you're comparing like with like, in terms of the level of cover provided, and make sure the cover meets your requirements.

Will definitely cancel direct debit and contract as I have had a quote from my car insurer for equivalent breakdown cover for £60 (including a discount for already having car insurance with them). Just got to gear myself up to have the conversation with AA, once I am within the 14 days renewal period.

After receiving a better quote from a different company, I phoned the AA and asked to cancel. Although there is a cooling off period of 14 days, the AA said they would still charge me £20 for admin fees.
