  1. There was a lot of controversy with World War Z centered around fans of the book hating it as well as reshoots/recuts, but as a thrill ride and theatrical experience I loved it. Like I Am Legend, the zombies looked way too cg, but I can forgive that given how many thousands of zombies they showed.

  2. TL;DR: World War Z is a well-constructed movie. All of the beats are in place, the stakes are clear and the fluid transitions from plot point to plot point work in an effective and engaging manner. Aside from that very dry summary, I found a lot to like about World War Z.

  3. World War Z is actually a pretty solid zombie movie. Recommendation. I know this film gets hated on because it is not the book, and the book is great (and of course, like everyone always says, would make for the perfect HBO anthology series), but if you take a step back from the book and just view the movie as a movie, it's actually pretty solid.

  4. Jun 21, 2013 · “World War Z” is mostly David Lean-on-caffeine panoramas of computer-generated zombies swarming ant-like up walls and over barricades and taking down computer-generated choppers while Forster’s close-up camera swings all over the place to generate unearned “excitement.”

  5. World War Z is the zombie film for people who are too afraid to watch zombie films. Full Review | Original Score: 2.2/5 | Nov 19, 2019

  6. Aug 10, 2024 · World War Z was praised for reviving the zombie sub-genre that had gone quiet for decades following the likes of 28 Days Later and the king of zombie movies Dawn of the Dead.
