One of the oldest independent preps in the country, Windlesham House began life in 1837 on the Isle of Wight, before moving to Sussex and finally settling in its current spectacular location just off the A24 at Washington in West Sussex. A short drive from Worthing, Horsham and Steyning, the campus is a rural haven nestled at the foot of the South ...

On a cold January day, the Queen Anne building that houses Windlesham radiates a warm and wholesome welcome, with a roaring fire in reception and information on upcoming activities (including a chocolate themed weekend) on display as well as a box of fresh eggs laid by the school’s chickens. It’s the kind of place that instantly brings roses to the...

With so much space at the school’s disposal, it’s no surprise that sports are well catered-for at Windlesham. Pupils use the pitches, Astroturf and sports hall to play rugby, football, hockey, netball, cricket, rounders, tennis, badminton, table tennis and basketball. Windlesham has a proud history of excellence in creative arts, not to mention some heavy-hitting and really rather cool thespy alumni (Former ‘Mr Madonna’ Guy Ritchie, Marvel hunk Tom Hiddleston and comedian Adam Buxton, to name but a few). Weekends are full of fun, activities and adventures, in fact plenty of day pupils come into school over the weekend too so as not to miss out. But the...

Ben Evans and his wife Alex joined Windlesham along with their two sons in 2020, smack in the middle of the Covid pandemic. It wasn’t an easy time to take the helm, with bubbles, social distancing, masks and all the restrictions we’ve all pretty much forgotten about in full effect. The Evans family were previously based at a prep in Hertfordshire a...

The gorgeously traditional Windlesham House chapel sits slap bang in the middle of the main school building – it’s not exactly where you’d expect to find and it, and like the school, has moved locations several times during its lifespan. Windlesham House was also the first prep in the UK to go co-ed.

Pupils hand in their tech on arrival and can pick it up when they go home for weekends and holidays. Year 7 and 8 boarders can use their phones for a few hours on Sunday to catch up with friends and parents.
