William Matthew Walsh (born 25 October 1961) is an Irish airline executive who is currently the Director General of the International Air Transport Association. Until 2020, he was CEO of International Airlines Group , and had previously been CEO of Aer Lingus and British Airways .
He was Chief Executive of IAG from its inception until September 2020. Under Walsh’s leadership, IATA has focused on supporting the industry’s emergence from the COVID-19 crisis as well as aviation’s ambitious and historic commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
