William F. von Meister (February 21, 1942 – May 18, 1995) was an American entrepreneur who founded and participated in a number of startup ventures in the Washington, D.C., area. These included The Source, an early online service and CompuServe competitor, and Control Video Corporation, a predecessor to AOL.

Apr 26, 2014 · Two years latter when I tried to contact him, I was sad when I heard Bill Von Meister had died from pancreatic cancer that took his life in three months after diagnosis. When we last spoke he mentioned he had a pain in his gut and was going to see the doctor about it the following week.
