   When was HISD founded?

   • Opened in 1907, the campus was originally located at Elgin and Chenevert. In 1956, it moved to its present location (400 Victoria Street) in north Houston. One of the founders of Almeda, Texas, named the town after his daughter. The school was built in 1901 and became part of HISD in 1936.
