The project was initially slated for production in September 2019 with a proposed premiere of 2020, however, significant delays and financing updates have shifted the timeline. The film was made by David Sandberg, a Swedish filmmaker.
The feature-length sequel will apparently get a cinema release, with David Sandberg, who plays Kung Fury, returning to write and direct. Schwarzenegger will play the unnamed US president, while Fassbender will enter the fold as Colt Magnum, Kung Fury's partner in martial arts justice.
