Most of them don't even try. 12 Monkeys pulled on one loose plot thread that was obvious in retrospect and suddenly everything laid out perfectly for the final stretch. It's completely justified that the last three episodes are the highest rated of the series.

The surprise twist from S3 of Olivia being the witness kinda pissed me off for a few weeks, but the more I think about it and especially after rewatching the first 2 seasons there are clues and hints that actually set everything up for Olivia to become the witness since season 1.
