T he 20th World Cup in football was held in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July in 2014. It was the second time Brazil hosted the biggest football tournament on earth, the first time was World Cup 1950.
Brazil qualified as first at their group, winning two matches ( Croatia and Cameroon) and drawing one ( Mexico ). They eventually reached the semi-finals, beating Chile and Colombia. Brazil, however, were then knocked out by the eventual champions Germany in a match known as the Mineirazo.
