I can see them doing specific stories or section of the simlarillion as movies or shows but the entirety of the silmarillion covers to wide a time frame I think for it to work as a single series while still being accessible to general audiences.

Christopher has the copyright, so it'll be at least 75 years after his death - unless the Tolkien Estate asks for the copyright to be extended, which they almost certainly will.
