Reed is pretty white and skews towards with a wealthier socio-economic status. Most students are from out of state with the two most represented states being California and New York. With that being said, recently there has been a focus on increasing the diversity of the student body with the last class being admitted being roughly 30% POC.

If you want to study in the library all day and value small class sizes and professor attention, then come to Reed - if you don't mind the grade deflation. The average GPA is roughly a 3.25: https://www.reed.edu/registrar/pdfs/grades-at-reed.pdf.

You raise some good questions about whether to Reed or not to Reed. Your worry about sports teams, clubs fizzling out, and the lengthy debates/discussions are all very true. I explicitly chose Reed because I didn’t want a large school and didn’t find sports teams to rally behind appealing.
