Don't go to Reed just because you want to go on to further study. People in my grad school cohort came from schools all over the country, and it's better to excel academically at a different undergrad than struggle intellectually at Reed.
Reed seeks to make a college education affordable and accessible to all admitted students, regardless of family financial circumstances. Financial aid is awarded exclusively on the basis of need as determined by the CSS Profile and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
If you want to study in the library all day and value small class sizes and professor attention, then come to Reed - if you don't mind the grade deflation. The average GPA is roughly a 3.25: https://www.reed.edu/registrar/pdfs/grades-at-reed.pdf.
- Dallas College District | Dallas, TX. Dallas County Promise: This "free tuition" program is available to high school graduates from 65+ participating Promise High Schools in Dallas County.
- Rice University. The Rice Investment: Rice University offers some of the most generous financial aid to low- and middle-income families which includes Rice expanded this program in 2021 and students with family income below $75,000 will now receive funds to cover tuition, fees, room, and board.
- Texas A&M University College-Station, TX. Aggie Assurance: (Whoop!) This "free tuition" program open to incoming freshmen and transfer students covers tuition costs for future Aggies.
- Texas Tech University | Lubbock, TX. Red Raider Guarantee: This free tuition plan guarantees tuition and mandatory fees (based on 30 credit hours per academic school year) to new entering freshmen and transfer students with an Associate’s degree.
