Jan 15, 2024 · You used to need a TV licence merely for having a telly, but now you can get away without paying the £159 annual fee – rising to £169.50 from April 2024 – if you only watch certain channels on catch-up. If you watch BBC iPlayer, you'll need a licence, but you won't for other channels' catch-up services.
This can result in an overlap in signals and different regional channels (eg BBC England instead of BBC Scotland, or BBC East Midlands instead of BBC Anglia) in your TV Guide. One way to solve this issue is to manually retune your TV to your preferred transmitter if it is available.

The TV Guide is in the centre of the menu along the bottom of the Freeview mobile app (called Guide). Simply tap it to open. You can switch between what's on right now and the full guide by tapping the triple bar icon in the top left corner on the Guide. You can also view a single channel's schedule by tapping on that channel's icon.
