Yes, 'arthouse' movies are still being made, but the whole point of going to the movies was that the movies above were mainstream. That is something we have lost. Television makes up for that in way, the quality of television shows has massively improved, but it's not a movie like The Terminator that I miss, but mainstream drama's like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
