I convinced my friends to watch Naruto when I showed them Itachi and kisame entrance to the Konoha village and Itachi's fight with Kakashii. And they were literally under genjutsu after that and decided to watch it from start. Now we have sometimes hours long discussions on phone calls.
Ostensibly, it's a dual tale about an unwanted, untalented nobody slowly rising to become the greatest ninja of the world, and also the fall of a gifted and well-liked ninja into the darkness of hatred and revenge, and his eventual redemption.
