Oct 29, 2016 · Daniel’s wisdom makes him a legend in his own time. When Nebuchadnezzar’s son sees a terrifying vision, his mother refers him to Daniel. This is how she describes him: [Daniel] was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. (Da 5:11) Sheesh! And Daniel’s fame isn’t a royal family secret.
- Daniel Was 14 or 15 When Taken into Captivity. Possibly younger or older, but we can solidly place Daniel in his teens (Daniel 1). Nebuchadnezzar enrolls Daniel into a three-year school program (sound like high school, anyone?)
- The Book of Daniel Was Written in Two Languages. Part of the reason why skeptics think someone else wrote the book is that this book contains two languages: Hebrew and Aramaic.
- No One Knows Where Daniel Was during the Fiery Furnace. Some people have thought that perhaps Daniel, too, bowed to the statue Nebuchadnezzar set up for himself in Daniel 3.
- Daniel Hails from the Line of David. According to Overview Bible, Daniel comes from the line of David. This makes sense given the narrative in Daniel 1.
Daniel—the teenager who had been taken captive—came to realize that God was miraculously working with him, and not just to preserve his life. God was revealing through him major prophecies of future world-ruling empires.

Daniel can be neatly divided into two parts. The first half is primarily narrative, and concerns Daniel’s life in Babylon under foreign kings.
After the King Nebuchadnezzar’s death, Daniel fell from favor but was not completely forgotten and was called to interpret the writing that appeared at Belshazzar’s feast (Daniel 5:13). Under Darius, he was made one of three prime ministers (Daniel 6:1).
