I know from personal experience that I don’t like having all eyes on me, so I can definitely understand why that would happen. However, after the costume’s head comes off by accident and one of the eyes pops out, she spontaneously starts laughing, and her shutdown is over.
Calling Norma's movements "icky" would be too much, imo, but her reaction in that scene was weird to look at. That being said, I think her actress generally did a good job conveying the emotions without speaking which I imagine must be pretty tricky to do.
