Persona 3 (Reload) Ending explanation. At the end of Persona Reload 3 I was confused that Makoto Yuki died. I think the game made it more look like that he was sleeping at the end, but a few days later I found out that he actually died.
It’s probable that her prior incarnations couldn’t end it even if they wanted to, but the weak ties and her acceptance of change ended it for everyone. The curse existed to keep the zodiac closer to each other and “God” than others, hence it directly impacting intimacy.
She controls murmur's sphere and creates a mini universe to imprison Yuki, and is seen holding up Minene with one hand over the precipice of the school. Also, when she killed herself, she preserved her soul in the fragment so that she could be reborn and eventually reunite with Yuki.

If you've just wrapped up Persona 3 Reload and were left scratching your head at some of the finer details, let's quickly run through the full ending, what was happening and the fate of our lead characters after the dust has settled. Be warned that we'll be going into spoiler territory ahead.
Before we jump into talking endings, we'll provide a quick summary of the story so far. If you're purely looking for an ending wrap-up, jump to the ending discussions using the links below:

Before we get into anything, let's quickly break down the events leading up to the finale so far. Our story follows a teenage boy named Makoto Yuki (or whatever funky custom name you went with). An orphan after his parents died in a tragic car crash as a child, Yuki is sent to Port Island to attend Gekkoukan High School as a second year.
However, adjusting to his new life and sitting exams are the least of Makoto's worries. After visiting the dormitory he'll be staying in for the year, Makoto realises he's one of a small group of people who can experience an event known as the Dark Hour every day at midnight. During this hour, the people of Port Island turn into coffins, the moon casts a sickly green glow across the city, and a magical tower appears in place of his high school known as Tartarus, which is swarming with monsters.
Those who can experience Tartarus possess the potential to summon magical entities to fight against the shadows known as Personas. Makoto isn't only a Persona-wielder, but after visiting a magical realm known as the Velvet Room where he meets the enigmatic Igor and his assistant Elizabeth, he discovers he has the power to wield a vast number of Personas at the same time. Makoto's unique abilities are quickly recognised by the director of Gekkoukan High School, Shuji Ikutsuki, who recruits him to join a team of Persona-wielding high schoolers known as S.E.E.S.
Quickly amassing a small unit of capable warriors, including his fellow classmates Yukari, Junpei, Mitsuru, Akihiko, Shinji and Fuuka, as well as a dog named Koromaru, a young boy called Ken and a shadow-killing robot known as Aigis, the team are tasked with defeating twelve powerful shadows. These shadows will appear around Port Island every time the Full Moon rises, causing the group to prepare each month to take them down.
All the while, Makoto realises his experience battling the shadows is slightly different to everyone else's. He's the only Persona-wielder able to visit the Velvet Room, and he's frequently visited by a ghostly young boy named Pharos who knows a lot about the Dark Hour, Makoto's fate and his war against the shadows.
Along the way, the team also discovers that Tartarus wasn't a natural creation. Gekkoukan High School used to be a Kirijo Group laboratory where scientists would experiment on shadows. During this research, an accident caused the shadows held within its walls to be released. The lab was destroyed, and Tartarus sprung up in its place. During this time, we'll also meet a group known as Strega, which is comprised of three Persona-wielders called Takaya, Jin and Chidori that patrol the streets during the Dark Hour and assassinate civilians. They directly interfere with S.E.E.S' mission, believing Tartarus, Personas and the Dark Hour are gifts and destroying them would be a waste.
On December 31, as Ryoji promised, he returns to the dorm. After a short discussion with the full team, he takes Makoto up to his bedroom and tells him he can make the choice.
Here, the game splits into two endings. One is a lot shorter than the other, so let's quickly cover the bad ending before we look at the game's canon, true ending.
If the player decides to live in blissful ignorance until their inevitable death, they can kill Ryoji, severing their connection to The Dark Hour, Tartarus and, worse of all, each other.
The game will then cut to three months later, as the group attends the third years' graduation ceremony on March 5. With Ryoji gone, most of the group don't remember each other. Mitsuru, Aigis, Ken and Akihiko are largely strangers to Makoto, Junpei and Yukari; just fellow students who live in the same dorm as the group.
During Mitsuru's rousing graduation speech, Makoto, Junpei and Yukari seem unphased by her words, and proceed to have a long conversation about blissful ignorance. Afterwards, they all agree to head to a Karaoke bar, and with that, the game ends. You'll receive a short after-credit sequence as the team go about their post-graduation celebrations, and then that's it.
The game doesn't have to outwardly say it, but this is a tragic ending for the group. While they're living relatively normal lives, as Yukari makes a very clear point of during the graduation ceremony, they're all living in blissful ignorance. The world is going to end in just a matter of weeks, and they're all destined to die alongside everyone we've met during the course of the story.
If the team decides to face Death head-on, Makoto spares Ryoji and begins a seemingly impossible mission. The group have one final month to climb to the top of Tartarus, take down Strega and battle Nyx in a fight to the death. On January 31, they'll execute their final operation.
During January, they push themselves to become more powerful. All the while, Port Island begins to degrade. Strega forms a cult that welcomes Nyx's arrival, preaching to the citizens about The Promised Day, where the Earth will finally be wiped clean of humanity. The group also realise that Tartarus' destruction will likely result in them forgetting The Dark Hour, S.E.E.S' journey and the bonds that bind them. They all promise they'll meet on Graduation Day if they survive, hoping it will help them remember the adventure they've shared together (remember this, as it's crucial a little bit later).
As the day arrives, the group head to Tartarus one last time. They climb to the very top of the tower, battling shadows and facing off against Strega one final time, defeating both Jin and Takaya.
As they reach the roof of Tartarus, they finally encounter Nyx. Embodying the form of monstrous Ryoji, Nyx tells the group to give up and submit, but they continue to fight.
After a long-fought battle, Nyx has finally had enough. Although S.E.E.S seemingly can't kill the god, they won't give up either. Regardless, their efforts are seemingly in vain. Nyx transforms into a celestial entity and initiates his cleansing ritual. For the first time, the people of Port Island experience the Dark Hour, seeing the sky turn green as they are transformed into grotesque monstrosities.
The group are knocked down by the sheer power of Nyx, and are unable to rise to their feet. At this moment, Makoto falls unconscious and appears in the Velvet Room. Igor and Elizabeth speak to Makoto, telling him that everything has led to this. Igor reminds him that, at the beginning of his journey, Makoto was told that his bonds with others would make him more powerful. Makoto begins to hear the voices of everyone he's befriended throughout his adventure, and with it, can draw one final arcana: The Universe.
So, why does Makoto die at the end of Persona 3 Reload? Well, it all comes back to the final moments of Makoto's duel with Nyx.
As Makoto seals away Nyx, he gives up his soul to trap Nyx, and with it, sacrifices his own life to bury the shadow away forever. This doesn't happen immediately, as Makoto made a promise to his friends. He told them he'd meet them on Graduation Day, and with it, manages to endure the effects of sealing Nyx until the day he can reunite with them one last time.
During his final moments on the rooftop, with his promise fufilled, Makoto can finally let death take him. As we mentioned during the bad ending section, Persona 3 Reload is a game about not fearing death, staring it down and fighting for what you believe in. From the evokers forcing their users to embrace their potential death to wield their Persona's powers to the player having to decide whether to literally face death head-on in the final mission, Makoto's fate is one that ultimately ties off that theme.
Makoto doesn't fear death, and he confronts and accepts it to fight for what he believes in. In the end, he pays the ultimate price, but the reward is that his loved ones can live on, pursue their passions and live fulfilling lives.
