Raja Man Singh I (21 December 1550 – 6 July 1614) was the 24th Maharaja of Kingdom of Amber from 1589 to 1614. He also served as the Subahdar of Bengal for three terms from 1595 to 1606 and the Subahdar of Kabul from 1585 to 1586. [1] He served in the Mughal Army under Emperor Akbar.
A Jhala chieftain called Man Singh took the Rana's place and donned some of his royal emblems by which the Mughals mistook him for the Rana. Man Singh Jhala was eventually killed, however his act of bravery gave the Rana enough time to safely retreat.

Man Singh in the meantime killed Maan Singh Jhala thinking him to be Rana Pratap. He was taken aback when he came to know that he had actually killed one of Rana Pratap's trusted men.
Tragically, in a case of mistaken identity, Man Singh unknowingly killed Maan Singh Jhala, mistaking him for Rana Pratap. When Man Singh returned the next day to resume the attack, he found no one left to oppose the Mughals.

Aug 13, 2021 · Battle of Haldighati. Akbar arrived at Ajmer in March, 1576 with objective of winning the rest of Mewar and sent a force led by Man Singh for Gogunda. Between Kuar Man and Gogunda was the mountain protection of Aravallis. The only route was through the Haldighati pass.
