After Crash Bandicoot is somehow transported into their world, the Skylanders have to help him get home by finding a dark relic. While searching for the Relic, Spyro begins to idolize and even attempts to imitate Crash.
I don't watch the Skylander show, but I did see the Crash Bandicoot episode on Netflix. It was great seeing him back in action. In that specific episode they made him really "cool".
Crash demands that Chompy Mage remove Spyro's chains, only for the mage to flee, leaving the Skylanders to carry Spyro back home. When they finally get back to the Academy, Master Eon uses the book to create a powerful rift, finally allowing Crash to go home.
In TTR, Crash is portrayed as pretty mean-spirited and gets his kicks out of torturing the park workers, sometimes to actual death. I know, I know, comedy. But...I didn't find it funny. And it was really out of character for Crash, the same dude who gave his yo-yo to the first boss of Nitro Kart.

Skylanders Spyro crossed over with Crash in the bonus Crash Edition of Skylanders: Imaginators, having already known Crash this time. This Crash seems unique to the Skylanders universe, as he and his Aku Aku recognize Skylanders Spyro, who looks different from the original Spyro.
