I was fine that they changed the books to have Jamie rape Cersie, I wasn't fine when I realized that they didn't film any of the subsequent season as though what happened was sexual assault, and the issue won't affect their characters in any way.

I've always seen Jaime/Cersei as a metaphor for addiction, too, and that's why Jaime's relapse made complete sense to me. Not every person stays clean from their DOC of choice forever. Jaime relapsed, chose Cersei over everything else and lost his life.
