Our Lady Queen of Peace. Our Sunday Mass is at 10am every week and other services are listed in the weekly Newsletter. There is a car park adjoing the church. The church is fully accessible by wheelchair and has a disabled toilet.
Penshaw – Our Lady Queen of Peace. Station Rd, Penshaw, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 7JZ. Hexham and Newcastle. A modernistic portal-framed church of the mid 1960s with some unusual (but characteristic of Anthony J. Rossi) detailing.
The three Washington churches became a cluster in 2002 and eventually amalgamated with our Lady Queen of Peace which covers the area of Penshaw and Shiney Row. The four churches became a single parish and took the name of St John XXlll at 10 am on 27 April 2014 when Pope Francis canonised Pope John XXIII & Pope John Paul II.
