"State of Shock" is a song released by the Jacksons released on the Victory album. It was released as a single on June 18, 1984. Michael Jackson and the guest feature, Mick Jagger provide lead vocals.
The song was written by Michael in 1983 and initially recorded as a duet with the lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury, among other two songs the artists worked on. Unfortunately due to complications, the collaborations were scrapped.
Michael would re-record the song with Mick Jagger, the lead singer of The Rolling Stones and land on the Jacksons' Victory album in 1984.
On July 7, 2002 a demo by Jackson and Mercury leaked online alongside a one-take recording of "There Must Be More to Life Than This", another song the two recorded.
The demo is a much less developed version of what was ultimately released, missing many percussion elements or featuring a different drum snare. It is also in a lower key than the final release.
•"Weird Al" Yankovic parodied the song in Hooked on Polkas on his Dare to be Stupid album.
