I understand the epilogues aren't the best piece of fiction, I understand why so many people hate them and I too felt the original comic needed a more straightforward epilogue to wrap somethings up (PS had it so it wasn't unreasonable to expect it).

The Epilogues are controversial, and Homestuck 2 more disliked than not. Hiveswap Act 1 is generally considered good, and Hiveswap Act 2 less so, while I haven't seen much discussion of Friendsim apart from limited discourse on a few select routes (Marvus, Lanque).
They wrote the outline/general plot and they micromanaged the writing of various scenes by other writers. The epilogue is 100% Hussie using people to write their story for them. But by design the epilogue is meant to by and large be the last of their involvement in a heavy way.
