After the disbandment of the legendary Mugen, its remaining members Cobra and Yamato, founded Sannoh Rengokai for their childhood friend, Noboru. He's been sent to prison and this gang serves as the place that he can always return to. They have known each other for many years.
Sannoh Rengokai (Hoodlum Squad), White Rascals, Oya Koukou (Oya High School), Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka, took control of the town on their separate territory, and the town began to be known as the SWORD area. When they tried to protect their town from the yakuza organization Kuryu Group, their epic stories began.

Sannoh Hoodlum Squad or Sannoh Rengokai (山王連合会 San'nō Rengō-kai) is a biker gang that is formed by former Mugen members, Cobra and Yamato.
Sannoh Hoodlum Squad are the protectors of Sannoh Shopping District. Their base of operation is ITOKAN Diner, an old restaurant established by the late Tatsuya.
Other than Cobra and Yamato's goal to protect Sannoh Shopping District, Sannoh Hoodlum Squad was formed in order to create a place for Noboru in order to accept him back after he was detained. The gang is also considered as Mugen successor, as they are biker gang like Mugen and formed by former Mugen member, thus they are being targeted by Daruma Ikka because of their goal to get revenge on Mugen.
Because their goal is to protect Sannoh Shopping District, they are mostly calm and try to evade conflict against other S.W.O.R.D gangs. But at some point, they're at war against Oya High School in order to protect Chiharu. They were also attacked by White Rascals due to some misunderstanding and they also infiltrated Nameless Road, base of Rude Boys, to save Chiharu. Eventually, it was revealed that Noboru was working under Iemura-kai and creating chaos from behind the scene. Noboru was later accepted back by his old friends and joined the gang.
After knowing about a bigger threat who aim for S.W.O.R.D, Cobra was the first to propose the S.W.O.R.D agreement with the goal to protects the city together.
The gang almost broke up when Dan, Tettsu, Chiharu, and Kabuto Ijuin decided to split after knowing that Cobra declared war on Kuryu Group, the war they cannot win. Eventually, the gang united again in order to strike Kuryu Group for the last time.

Taken from the first initial letter of the five gangs, S.W.O.R.D. stands for; Sannoh Hoodlum Squad, White Rascals, Oya High School, Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka. Due to the influence of these five gangs, the city itself became known as the SWORD District (SWORD地区 SWORD Chiku).
The members of the SWORD gangs (Sannoh Hoodlum Squad, White Rascals, Oya High School, Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka) joined forces to win the "Battle of Kokuhakudo Station" against the infamous Doubt and Prison Gang.
Though he has always helped Sannoh Rengokai (Hoodlum Squad) in battles, he didn't officially join Sannoh Rengokai (Hoodlum Squad) until recently. Shogo Iwaya appears as Ken, and Shogo Yamamoto appears as Hikaru, the younger generation of Sannoh Rengokai (Hoodlum Squad).
