  2. Jun 1, 2021 · The Anglican Parish Church of Chelsfield, Kent, is dedicated to St.Martin-of-Tours. The earliest parts of the current church building were constructed in the 12th century. A tower and chapel were added in the 13th century, a porch in the 15th century, the current clergy vestry in the 19th century and the Brass Crosby Rooms in 2007.

  3. The Church is named for St Martin, Bishop of Tours. A fourth century Roman and Christian, he became a soldier but eventually decided he could not fight and became an early conscientious objector. After suffering imprisonment for his refusal to fight, he was released from military service, and followed his vocation.

Its west wall displays two blocked Norman windows whilst the south wall has two Norman windows close to its east end. In the south chapel is a lovely hanging monument to Peter Collett who died in 1607.
