Nicholas Platt (born March 10, 1936) is an American diplomat who served as U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan, Philippines, Zambia, and as a high level diplomat in Canada, China, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Platt was born in New York City on March 10, 1936, the son of Helen (née Choate) and architect Geoffrey Platt. His maternal great-grandfather was diplomat and lawyer Joseph Hodges Choate.
Born in 1936, Ambassador Platt graduated from Harvard College in 1957 and earned an MA from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in 1959. He is a member of the New York Council on Foreign Relations, a board member of Scenic Hudson and of the Friends of China Heritage Fund Limited.
Nicholas Platt served as U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Philippines, Zambia, and as a high level diplomat in Canada, China, Hong Kong, and Japan.
