Howard Martin Otho Travers (19 February 1886 – 25 July 1948) was a leading English church artist and designer. Travers was born in Margate, Kent, educated at Tonbridge School, entered the Royal College of Art in 1904, and was awarded its Diploma in Architecture in 1908.
His personal life was complicated but he managed to attract a primarily Anglo-Catholic clientele, particularly in the years after the First World War (when church furnishers were busy as never before or since) even though he was married to a divorcée and had lost his faith (or most of it) during the First World War.
Michael Yelton was born in 1950 and practised as a barrister in East Anglia from 1973 to 1998, when he was appointed as a Circuit Judge. He has since sat in Essex and more recently in Cambridgeshire. He is also a Justice of the Court of Appeal of St. Helena. He lives in Cambridge and is married with three grown up children.

This may have reflected his personal life (for example, he was a conscientious objector during the First World War) and association in the public mind with Anglo-Catholicism, although he had largely lost his faith, and his first wife was a divorcee, who remarried while her husband was still alive.
