Upon the end of WWII, Glenn joined Fighter Squadron 218 on North China patrol and had duty on Guam. From June 1948 until December 1950 Glenn was an instructor in advanced flight training at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.
As a Marine fighter pilot in World War II and the Korean War, Glenn flew 149 missions, withstanding 11 hits by enemy fire. Following the Korean War, he served as a test pilot for several years, working with Navy and Marine Corps jet fighters and attack aircraft.
