   • In October 1898, Jack McNeile, a cousin, was drowned in Loughareema ("the Vanishing Lake") when he was going by dogcart to Ballycastle to catch a train after a visit to Cushendun House. Apparently what happened was that the road over the lough was completely flooded after two or three days of deluging rain.
