Summary. Chapter 3. Denver enjoyed hearing Sethe’s story of when she left Sweet Home. Sethe’s legs and feet were swollen making walking nearly impossible. Her moaning was heard by a white girl walking through the area. The girl, Amy, told Sethe of a shelter to go to rest. Denver described her vision of seeing a small dress to Sethe.
THEMES: Memory. paul D thinks Sethe's "tree" scars are grotesque and repulsive. "How fine the silk, how jailed down the juice."-Chapter 2.
