Dec 26, 2023 · The GM 2.0 L 4-cylinder (internally dubbed the LTG) is a turbocharged engine from the EcoTec series that debuted in the 2013 Cadillac ATS and Chevrolet Malibu and ended with the 2023 Camaro.
The World Gasoline Engine is a family of straight-4 piston engines, based on the Global Engine Alliance design. Three engines have been produced: a 1.8 L, a 2.0 L, and a 2.4 L. The initial design of the engine block and cylinder head was handled by Hyundai as part of the Global Engine Alliance.
- Engine Block: the Ecotec 2.0L turbo’s sand-cast cylinder block is a superior refinement of previous Ecotec engine block castings. It is dimensionally similar to previous Ecotec turbo block variants, while providing improved structural support, as well as enabling greater control of noise, vibration and harshness.
- Rotating Assembly: the crankshaft is made of drop forged steel with induction heat-treated fillets and cross-drilled chamfered oil passages for racing-grade lubrication characteristics.
- Rotocast Aluminum Cylinder Head with Sodium Filled Exhaust Valves: the LTG Ecotec 2.0L turbo’s A356T6 aluminum cylinder head is cast using a Rotocast process for high strength, reduced machining and improved port flow.
- DOHC with Continuously Variable Valve Timing: overhead cams are the most direct, efficient means of operating the valves, while four valves per cylinder increase airflow in and out of the engine.
