Synopsis. The series is set in a run-down bar called Horace and Pete's in Brooklyn, New York. The bar was owned by the same family since 1916 and was passed down through several generations, always with a Horace and a Pete in charge. The current owners are the 49-year-old Horace Wittel VIII and his 52-year-old cousin Pete.
Joe Pesci was Louis C.K.'s first choice to play Uncle Pete. Pesci said he liked the script but turned it down because he thought the show would be very successful. Christopher Walken was the second choice, but Walken felt he had done the part before.
