For that much money, they should at least carry the api certs. bottom line: Use a well known API certified oil for your application, ie CJ4/SM. Use the right viscosity (15-40 or 5-40) for your temp, and change it at a reasonable interval.

    Lucas can be used when oil consumption is higher than normal or at all. Its an additive as a last resort. I've got an 84 ford ranger with the v6 and close to 200-300K miles. (5 digit ODO) and I used it and it helped with oil consumption. I later switched to a thicker oil. It's safer and cheaper.
